Do you need detergent for coin laundry? ›

Laundry detergent is automatically added to the wash load, so all you have to bring with you is your laundry and some cash. Although there are money changers available at these centers, some of the machines do not accept 5,000 yen or 10,000 yen bills, so make sure to bring 100 yen coins with you.

There is a broad range the machines will take depending on the machine you select and the amount of laundry. The average wash cycle takes between 27 - 35 minutes and dryers between 28 - 42 minutes.

In short, the answer is Yes! Simply toss the pod into the drum area before you lock/close the door and you'll be good to go! Be sure to NOT put it in the regular liquid detergent area of the machine as that may cause damage/blockage and result in clothes not getting cleaned correctly.

The dryers are more or less there to get people to wash their clothes in their machines. If they didn't offer the dryers people wouldn't wash their clothes there.
