Josh began his acting career with the role of Young Greg Sumner on the primetime soap opera Knots Landing in 1986. He appeared on the show until 1990, sharing the screen along with his father William and other notable stars like James Houghton, Kim Lankford, and more.
In 1987, the actor sagged the role of Frank in the TV movie Timestalkers. Later in the years, Josh appeared in the likes of Blind Witness and The Preppie Murder.
Furthermore, from 1995-96, Devane portrayed the role of Frank James on the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. In 1996, Josh was featured in two TV series Pacific Blue and Baywatch Nights. The following year, the now-retired actor played young detective John Langdon in his last on-screen project Timecop along with Ted King, Don Stark, and Kurt Fuller.
